Neurophysiological confirmation of phrenic nerve affection in patient with dyspnea and herpes zoster

Introduction. Herpetic lesion of the phrenic nerve is very uncommon. These lesions are usually unilateral and for most clinicians, clinical manifestation herpes zoster in cervical or thoracic region diaphragmatic paralysis on same side sufficient making a diagnosis segmental palsy. We report patient, who had classic picture, which we confirmed affection conduction study. Case report. A 58-year-old female presenting with shortness breath. The patient herpetic rash her right shoulder two half months earlier. elevation hemidiaphragm was seen chest X-ray imaging. Asymmetry evident study nerve: prolonged latency reduced amplitude nerve. treated by acyclovir, pregabalin, B complex vitamins. After 6 motor deficit completely reduced. Conclusion. Nerve useful definitive diagnosis. Good outcome, as this rare patients may be linked to timely treatment acyclovir.
